Yoga is a great all-around workout, promoting both physical and mental strength. But do you know what makes everything better? Cats.
Well, at least one yoga studio seems to agree.
Yoga at Connie’s in Latham, Illinois, held a special class last week that featured six flexible felines in need of homes, reports the Herald & Review on Pantagraph.com. The event aimed to benefit Homeward Bound Pet Shelter in Decatur, Illinois, which supplied the cats for the event.
Shelter officials told the Herald & Review that despite the increase in viral cat videos, the need for adoption persists. And what better time to raise awareness about homeless pets in need than June, which is Adopt-A-Cat Month?
As the class participants began their poses and sequences, studio owner Connie Pease reminded them to welcome the cats into their workout.
“Now, no screaming if a cat jumps on you,” Pease reportedly said as she led the class.
And as the event’s YouTube video (below) shows, the cats made themselves comfortable, taking in a little Zen, as well. A young black and white cat named Breezy made herself at home — ending up on the mat of one of the class’s participants.
Instead of a class fee, Yoga at Connie’s asked for cash and pet supply donations for the shelter, raising more than $500, the Herald & Review reports. Pease said she hopes to hold additional cat classes in the future. Where do we sign up?
