Tornadoes and earthquakes can strike at any minute, day or night. The first of June ushers in the dreaded six-month Atlantic hurricane season, along with fears that the next Hurricane Katrina will strike. Wildfires burn somewhere in the United States nearly every month of the year. Residential fires claim an average of 3,090 lives annually. 

Are you and your dog prepared for the worst? For instance, do you have a written plan or know what to do if your pet gets lost during a natural disaster? Fewer than 20 percent of pets were reunited with their owners after 2005’s Hurricane Katrina. And that’s considered pretty good, as far as disasters go.
