Spring cleaning is a great time to clear out old clutter. But let’s slow down a little, people. Your cats will thank you.
One woman was a little to hasty to tidy up and inadvertently donated her cat to a thrift store last weekend, KUTV reports. Tiny One had been hiding in a couch when owner Rachel Barbee dropped it off at charity store Deseret Industries in Price, Utah.
Barbee didn’t realize there was a problem until her friend and couch-dropping-off partner Brittnie Arroyo saw a Facebook post on a private yard-sale page with a photo of Barbee’s couch… and her cat. It read: “Someone dropped a couch off at the DI and it had a cat in it. If anyone knows who (he) belongs to please come back.”
“I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, that’s your cat — you have got to call. Rachel, your cat is at the D.I.’” Arroyo told the news outlet.
Tiny One should be pretty grateful for Arroyo. She’s the one who initially encouraged Barbee to bring the couch to a thrift store, instead of the dump.
Within a half hour of learning the cat was waiting along with the donated couch, the two friends returned to pick up Tiny One. So Barbee was able to clear some energy-blocking clutter but keep the important stuff.
Cats definitely “spark joy.” While you’re tidying up, hang on tight to them.
