Forget to renew your dog’s license in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and you might just end up in jail.

Becky Rehr said she fully intended to renew her dog’s license, but with a husband who traveled for work, her own job as a surgical nurse and two active teenagers, it slipped her mind, MLive reports. So the Kalamazoo County resident knew that she was well overdue when she stopped by the sheriff’s office last month to show her $35 receipt for making her 11-year-old mixed breed dog legal again. But instead of nodding their heads and sending her on her way, the officers arrested her, took her mugshot and put her in a holding cell.

“They frisked me and put me in this intake cell with all these inmates in orange jumpsuits,” she told MLive. “I was pretty nervous.”

But after three terrifying hours she was released from jail and, earlier this week, the charges against her were dropped.

“No court and total dismissal!!!!!” she wrote in an enthusiastically punctuated email to the news site. But does she get to keep her mugshot as a parting gift?
