Since the beginning this company has been all about fine wines from around the world, and helping dogs. In celebration of spring, the company is donating $1 to the partnered shelter or rescue of your choice when you input a donation code at checkout when purchasing any bottle of wine in The Loyal Companion series online.
According to their website, “our labels feature original, limited-edition illustrations by artist Jay P. Snellgrove. Each honors a real dog that has a special story — a reminder of how empty this world would be without the unconditional love and devotion of man’s best friend.”
Bill Foss, Chairman, gave DogChannel the inside bark on the company’s upcoming events for the year. On March 11, they will be attending the Family Winemakers of California at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego. This event is a wine tasting that is open to both the public and the trade. Details can be found here.
In June, the company is unveiling a special bottle of Pinor Noir at an event in Los Angeles. The event, hosted by the American Humane Association and animal lover Betty White, will honor last year’s Hero Dog Awards winner, Roselle. Roselle is the yellow Labrador Retriever who led her blind owner down 75 flights of one of the twin towers during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The wine label will feature a portrait of Roselle. The wine is a limited edition of 75 cases, which will be available at three Hero Dog Awards events: Los Angeles, New York, and the award show itself in Beverly Hills.
They will also be doing numerous events with the rescue organizations they donate to, including a promotion with Bristol Farms in the Los Angeles area and an event with spcaLA in April.
“All the organizations we donate to are dog related and we hope with the introduction of The Loyal Companion series to expand distribution eventually across the country and partner up with local shelters in each city,’’ says Foss.
The wines have won several awards recently, says Foss. “The two [The Loyal Companion] wines both won medals recently in the prestigious San Francisco Chronicle competition in January. A Gold for the Red Blend (Syrah, Cabernet, Malbac, & Zinfandel), and a Bronze for the Chardonnay. The Red also is getting a ‘Best Buy’ in the April issue of The Wine Enthusiast.”
