Wildwood Seed Recalls Bird, Small Animal Food

Some lots of Sleek And Sassy small animal and bird foods sold in Washington and Oregon are subject to a recall due to possible contamination with Salmonella.

Wildwood Seed & Specialties of Monroe, Oregon, voluntarily recalled a limited supply of its Sleek and Sassy bird and small animal foods that contain raw in-shell peanuts, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported on October 25, 2012.

The products use peanut ingredients that Sunland Inc. recalled because of possible Salmonella contamination.

No pet or consumer illnesses have been linked to the Wildwood products, the FDA stated.

The potentially affected lots were distributed to retailers in Oregon and Washington and were sold in plastic bags, jars and paper bags.

The recalled products bear the manufacturing codes 01148 through 01241 and have the the UPCs listed in the below chart.

Consumers who bought recalled Sleek & Sassy products are urged to return the remaining food to the store for a refund or to dispose of the food immediately.

The recall of peanut products manufactured by Portales, New Mexico-based Sunland began Sept. 24, 2012, and affected more than 100 SKUs in the human and animal food sectors.

Other pet products linked to the recall include Yoghund Organic Banana & Peanut Butter frozen yogurt dog treats from TBD Brands LLC of Exeter, New Hampshire, and jarred Dogsbutter from Dog for Dog of Santa Monica, California.
