Former “Monster Garage” host Jesse James announced on Facebook Wednesday that his dog Bubba has “reached the end of the rode [sic] with us humans.”
Bubba was diagnosed with prostate cancer more than a year ago, and had polyps in his rectum, James said in the post. James, founder of West Coast Choppers, had Bubba since he was a puppy and said he “was a fighter to the end” just like his dad, Cisco.
Most known for his custom motorcycles, James also posted a short video of himself comforting Bubba on the floor in a room as he said his goodbyes. In the video, James pets Bubba on the head for a few moments and then places his head down to Bubba’s face for some loving kisses. Bubba then lies down as James continues caressing his beloved dog in silence.
Compassion for your dog is such a sharp razors edge. When they get old and start to break down and suffer, It is so hard to make that decision to end that suffering. We find ourselves hanging on to any tiny sign of them being being ok, or better. We know it's denial, but it's so hard to call it what it is. It comes down to pure selfishness in the end, You not wanting to let them go. Seeing them in oblivious pain is just as hard as seeing their tail still wagging and light still in their eyes. Holding them in your arms and feeling their struggle and pain come to an end. That is the real lesson in showing compassion for your best friend.

James removes Bubba’s collar and scratches and rubs the dog’s neck. Bubba wags his tail a bit as James continues to shower his dog with affection. Bubba then lies back down as James wipes tears away from his eyes.
