When it comes to the Internet, cat videos get all the hype. They have been the subject of academic studies, there are film festivals dedicated to them and there’s a pretty good chance that you’ve burned a recent coffee break watching a cat do something (or do nothing, as cats tend to do). But Los Angeles-based media agency SoulPancake is making a case for puppy videos and, in this case, watching some adorable dogs can help a lot of pups in need.
The video, which has been uploaded to YouTube with the hashtag #PowerOfPuppies, shows what happens when a pile of cute puppies are delivered to a preschool, a retirement home and a gym. You can pretty much guess the outcome: Everyone’s day gets SO MUCH BETTER when they’re allowed to pet a dog or put their face near SO MANY SWEET LITTLE FACES. (Even the gym bros put their barbells down to snuggle with some sweatband wearing dogs).
But — even better — Purina Puppy Chow has pledged to donate 1 pound of Puppy Chow Natural food to Rescue Bank for every view that this video gets. Rescue Bank will distribute the donated pet food to pre-qualified animal shelters and other animal welfare groups across the country.
As of this writing, the view count is over 480,000; Puppy Chow has promised to give up to 500,000 pounds of food. So click play, watch some dogs bring smiles to everyone’s faces and then go back to work, knowing that you’ve just contributed a pound of puppy food to the cause.
