Anyone who’s ever had a dog knows they can be a little unpredictable at times. When my Pit Bull was younger he was asleep on the floor downstairs. A fan fell over upstairs, it woke him up, scared him and he jumped out the first-floor window (he was fine) and bolted. We found him sitting on the steps of a nearby church. That was the one and only time he’d ever done anything like that, and no one was expecting it.
I’m guessing that no one was expecting anything out of the ordinary at the Wiener Schnitzel weenie dog race hosted by minor league baseball team El Paso Chihuahuas. But of course, the unexpected happened. One of the participants was too excited to stop running, and ran around the field, dodging would-be catchers as he did so. He finally gave up, but not before rolling over on his back for a belly rub – likely the equivalent to a high five for hitting a home run.
There’s no telling what the dog was thinking when he sprinted around the bases, but we’re guessing he was showing the EP Chihuahuas that he would make an excellent pinch runner for the team.
