Venus Williams has a special male in her life – 3-year-old Havanese Harold “Harry” Reginald.
“You’re out there on your own and you need a friend who’s there for you — wins, losses — and who really cares for you,” she said in a U.S. Open promotional clip. “I’ve recently found that someone, and that’s Harold. Whether I win or lose, Harold doesn’t know. He doesn’t even like tennis. He just waits for me to get off the court.”
Williams told People magazine she couldn’t imagine life without the pooch. That’s why the tennis star has stopped cycling with Harold — after a scary accident, Williams said she was lucky to escape injury-free.
“I used to ride him in the basket, but I’ll never ride him in the basket again — not after that incident,” she said. Had Harold been with me, “he would’ve been a goner, buddy!”
