We all know how dogs tend to overreact with excitement when you leave and come home even if you’ve only stepped outside for a moment, so what happens when you are gone for a long time? For this little dog, it’s just too much to handle.
Note: The poster of the video added to the comments that “Casey, was taken to the vet, the vet saw the video, and everything is fine with her. No worries.” See below for important health information about fainting in dogs.
Casey the Miniature Schnauzer had not seen her family member, who moved to Solvania for 2 whole years upon this reunion. The sweet little dog was so overjoyed by the return of her owner that she simply could not handle it. After several high-pitched screams of excitement the little dog passed out, but quickly came to. A little dazed and confused at first, she soon regained her look of sheer joy.
While many people are the internet are calling this video cue, knowing that Casey is okay, fainting can be a sign of a serious issue in your dog. If your dog experiences fainting for any reason, it is important to take them to a vet immediately.
Syncope or fainting, is a condition commonly seen in older dogs and is more common in certain breeds including Miniature Schnauzers. Similar to fainting in humans it occurs where there is not enough oxygen being pumped to the brain. Syncope is characterized by a temporary loss of consciousness and an spontaneous recovery. Treatment for episodes of collapse entirely depend on the underlying diagnosis, so it is important to get your dog to a veterinarian for a physical exam and blood-screening tests.
