The great outdoors has been made extra great by two cats.

Tabby brothers Keel and Bolt go on many outdoor adventures with their owners, Danielle Gumbley and Kayleen VanderRee, as their blog shows. They go on hikes, camp out in the wilderness and kayak on trips — in sun, rain and snow — near and far from their home in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Gumbley and VanderRee found the cats while leading a hike for summer campers. The roughly 4-week-old kittens were hiding in a bush behind a garbage can. Keel marched out to meet VanderRee first; Bolt followed a minute later. It appeared they were abandoned.

The women wanted to take the cats to the SPCA but it was closed. They were about to go on a hiking and camping trip for the next two nights. Avoiding a second abandonment, they decided to bring the cats with them.

The young cats took to life in the great outdoors very well. Now that they’re fully fledged adventure cats, they haven’t looked back.
