Tropical Fish Word of the Day: LPS

Expand your tropical fish vocabulary with the Tropical Fish Word of the Day.

LPS: (abbrev.) LPS stands for large polyped stony corals. LPS corals are generally larger and have larger polyps than SPS (small polyped stony) corals. LPS corals are easier to keep in aquariums because they don’t require as intense lighting and water movement as SPS corals. Some large polyped stony corals include elegance coral, hammer corals, frogspawn, disk and plate corals, torch corals (Euphyllia spp.) and bubble corals.
