Because of their glamorous looks, Poodles sometimes evoke stereotypes as empty-headed powder puffs. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Not only do multi-talented members of this breed flaunt their smarts in the obedience ring, prove their prowess on the agility course, and channel their sensitive side doing therapy work, they also display their impressive abilities at home, as Ari, a Standard Poodle belonging to Helen J. of Colorado, happily demonstrates.
“Ari’s talents include going upstairs backward, watching television, and maintaining the many toys he’s inherited from his predecessors and has never chewed up,” jokes Helen, president of the Poodle Club of America and an American Kennel Club All Breed judge.
