Timeline For Ferret Introductions

How long does it take for an established ferret to stop biting a new ferret in the family?

Q: My old ferret is biting the new one. When will the old ferret stop this behavior?

A: Some ferrets do this for a few hours, some for a few months. In my experience, it usually depends on the biting ferret’s past experience with other ferrets (the less experience, the longer it takes). Another factor that affects this is how the new ferret responds. If the younger one doesn’t put up a fight, isn’t being hurt and generally doesn’t seem to mind it, then it may take longer.
