How many times have you picked up a throw pillow, a blanket or your own child and said, “This would be perfect, if only it smelled a little more like my cat’s head?” If the answer is “1,000 times a day,” then you need to visit this Japanese website immediately.
For around $10 bucks (1,200 yen), you can buy a bottle containing a spray that has been specially formulated to smell just like a cat’s head, which is apparently a good thing.
The head of the Yamamoto Perfumery, Mr. Yamamoto, spent four months traveling from cat cafe to cat cafe, burying his nose between cats’ ears until he had memorized and perfected the smell, according to Kotaku. (Also, his hobby makes the four months you spent trying to teach yourself how to ride a unicycle seem downright boring by comparison). Yamamoto is no stranger to smelling cats; he looks like the same guy who sniffed cats’ paws while developing this cat paw-scented hand cream.
If you don’t know what a cat’s head smells like, the scent has been compared to that of fresh baked bread and to “the smell of sunshine.” The spray, officially called Fluffy Brow Scented Fabric Water, is currently on sale in Japan. Unless you have a trip to Tokyo booked, you might have to enjoy the smell of sunshine right at the source: on your cat’s head.
