2015 was a great year for videos of small animals!

Millions and millions of videos are added to YouTube each year. And a good number of those feature animals. Sure, cats and kittens like to think they own the Internet, but rabbits, hamsters, ferrets, guinea pigs and other small animal pets have their moments of glory, too. Can anyone forget Pizza Rat or Tiny Hamster?

With the end of 2015 nearly here, it’s time to reminisce, or maybe see for the first time, some of the most viral and amazing videos that captured small animals doing adorable, crazy, heartwarming or outstanding things. Arranged in their order of upload, it was interesting that no viral small animal videos struck in May or October. Maybe in 2016?

January 2015

1. The BBC helped us finally see how hamsters stuff their cheeks with a snippet of video from its show “Pets – Wild At Heart.” The X-ray view is astounding. And this topic clearly interests people, as it’s nearing 4 million views.

2. Never underestimate the abilities of an ingenious owner and a cooperative rabbit, plus a bit of good editing! That’s the takeaway I got from this video that shows a rabbit delivering beer to his owner. More than 1.3 million views attest that it’s something the world needed to see.

February 2015

3. Tiny Hamster is a creation of HelloDenizen, which debuted the adorable character in its 2014 video “Tiny Hamster Eating Tiny Burritos.” It has so far recorded 9 episodes with Tiny Hamster, and the most successful entry in 2015 was “Tiny Hamster’s Tiny Date,” which has more than 2 million views.

4. With almost 300,000 views, this ferret’s industrious efforts to steal away with almost everything in a room show why ferrets are crazy little kleptomaniacs!

March 2015

5. You won’t believe it until you see it (1.1 million people have). After all, who would think guinea pigs would file across a guinea pig-sized wood bridge in an orderly fashion?

April 2015

6. Meet a guinea pig philosopher and his cynical companion. Pondering one’s place in the universe can be a confusing pastime, but it’s one that earned more than 300,000 views!

June 2015

7. The most popular ferret video of the year with 1.7 million views actually doesn’t feature a ferret. It shows a mink mother herding her babies to safety, but the minks were mistaken for ferrets. It’s pretty cute, because one baby needs a bit of extra help from Mom to make it to safety.

8. This video showed the furry fury of a wild mother rabbit defending her young against a snake. Not for the faint of heart, it has so far captured more than 18 million views.

9. A sugar glider, a fan — it’s a match made in heaven that got more than 200,000 views!

July 2015

10. Why are pet rats cool? Because they’re so smart, playful and affectionate! This video shows some of the many tricks rats can do. And more than a million people have seen how terrific pet rats can be.

11. Hedgehogs are adorable. Baby hedgehogs are even more adorable. And sneezing baby hedgehogs? You guessed it — most adorable of all! The nearly 1.3 million views the video has garnered is nothing to sneeze at though.

August 2015

12. In one of the most awww-worthy moments ever, YMCA volunteers in Colorado were lucky enough to witness a rabbit playing with a deer. It’s an encounter that’s earned more than 500,000 views.

September 2015

13. The aforementioned Pizza Rat was just an average New York City rat in a subway who saw a slice of pizza and tried to drag it away. He has no clue about the fame (8 million-plus views and counting) or cultural trends his actions spawned.

November 2015

14. A pair of talking guinea pigs could make you bust a gut laughing as they discuss how pumpkin spice takes over everything during the holidays. Nearly 500,000 views prove it is a phenomenon.

15. On the flip side of why pet rats are great, and also with more than a million views, this video explores how people react the first time they meet a pet rat. For some it’s “like at first sight,” for others… not so much.

December 2015

16. So, this video features animated mice, but it’s a bit of cuteness that already has more than 150,000 views in less than a month.
