Who cares about the Super Bowl when Kitten Bowl III is almost here?! Last February we couldn’t wait to see the little kitties play in the Feline Football League and this year we’re just as excited! The taping of Kitten Bowl III took place on Wednesday, Oct. 21 and will air on The Hallmark Channel on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016. Until then, we’ve been treated to a sneak peak of the furry football game.
The kittens played on an elevated set (don’t worry; there were handlers to ensure the kitties didn’t get too close to the edge) with goal posts perfect for scratching. There were also plenty of water bowls and litter boxes – just what kitten football players need on the sidelines!
This year, almost 100 kittens participated in Kitten Bowl, all of which are rescues. North Shore Animal League America hopes to find forever homes for all of them before game day, kxan.com reports. Beth Stern, wife of Howard Stern, will host and NFL MVP and Pro Bowl quarterback Boomer Esiason will once again be the Feline Football League Commissioner. And this year, he’s also coaching one of the teams: Boomer’s Bobcats. He joked with kxan.com that his team is a “2-to-1 favorite” to win.
