Meet Boo Boo and Giant George, two dogs begging for a buddy-cop TV show. They’re the world’s smallest and largest dogs, as recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records. The two met Wednesday in New York City’s Central Park to promote the newest edition of the Guinness Book, TIME magazine reports.

Los Angeles Mulls Changes to Pet Ordinance
A motion, introduced in June by Westside Councilmen Bill Rosendahl and Paul Koretz, would increase the number of allowed pets from three dogs and/or cats to five of each. Supporters of the plan say it could help reduce the crush of abandoned animals at city shelters, which have seen a 20 percent jump, and spare them from euthanasia, the Daily Breeze reports.

U.S. Senate Urged to Ban Animal ‘Crush’ Videos
The US Senate was urged on Wednesday to ban the sale of so-called “crush videos” – fetish films in which small animals are maimed or killed. The US House of Representatives voted 416-3 in July to bar the sale or distribution of such videos with fines or up to five years in prison, AFP reports.

Dog’s 4½-Inch Tongue Sets World Record
Guinness World Records officials said accomplishments recorded in the 2011 edition, out Thursday, include a Texas dog’s 4½-inch tongue. Guinness officials said Puggy, a 10-year-old Pekingese, made it into the record book with a tongue nearly as long as his body, The Daily Telegraph reported.
