Georgia Dogfighting Raid Results in 33 Rescued Dogs
A raid on a dogfighting facility in Polk County, Ga., has resulted in the rescue of 33 abused dogs. The police and sheriff there were working Wednesday with the local prosecutor to raid the facility. The Atlanta Humane Society sent a trailer to help evaluate and treat the 33 dogs, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Deputy Suspended After Police Dog Dies in His Patrol Car
An internal investigation into the death of Columbia County, Fla., sheriff’s office K9 Brutus has revealed that handler Deputy Sheriff Randy Harrison accidentally left the dog in his patrol vehicle. He left home with Brutus in his patrol car and returned more than an hour later to find him dead. Harrison admitted the mistake and was suspended for 15 days, First Coast News reports.

At a zoo in Taiyuan, China, the birth of quadruplet white tiger cubs on June 20 was an exciting event. Unfortunately, their inexperienced mother couldn’t figure out how to nurse them, and the cubs were at risk of dying from lack of food. Luckily, zookeepers found a mother dog who had recently given birth and took the dog in to nurse the two male and two female cubs, The Washington Post reports.

Dog Rescued From Burning Home in Wisconsin
An elderly dog was revived by firefighters Sunday after being trapped inside a home that was burning in Appleton, Wis. Annie, a German Shepherd mix was carried from the home when firefighters responded to a blaze. Lori Casey, the fire department’s public educator, said the dog’s owner had been at church and arrived home to discover smoke, the Appleton Post-Crescent reports.
