Terminally Ill Dog Completes Amazing Bucket List

After finding out her Boxer Romeo had 4 months to live, Riina Cooke from British Columbia set out to fulfill all his doggie wishes.

Riina Cooke was devastated when her dog Romeo was diagnosed with an untreatable form of bone cancer. But after shedding her tears, Cooke decided to take a more positive approach to the Boxer’s final days and set out to create an amazing bucket list for her and Romeo to complete.

“I was just so upset for the first few days, I needed to do something to occupy my mind,” says Cooke. “I decided to put together a list of fun things for us to do together.”

The list consisted of 22 activities that were shared with fans on Facebook. From trying new foods to going on adventures, Romeo ate McDonalds, tried sushi while wearing a kimono, shared breakfast in bed with his dad, rode in a fire truck and a police car, he met a horse, received a massage, threw a birthday bash, went on a date and ate a romantic steak dinner in the park.

Romeo’s great adventure ended with the final item on his bucket list, a trip to the United States. After a peaceful day at Birch Bay, Romeo’s tumor took a turn for the worst and his family made the difficult decision to put him to sleep.

Cooke shared the heartbreaking news with Romeo’s fans on facebook:  “This morning at 9:30, I peacefully left this world. I was in my Mom’s arms and in the comfort of my own home. Thank you for following my story and for all the amazing support. Love you all, Romeo.”

A final tribute to Romeo:

“It was bittersweet, I had to let Romeo go,” says Cooke. “I gave my dog the chance to experience things most will never get a chance to. I enjoyed spending so much time with him, I loved seeing him really happy.”
