Will Bamboo the skateboarding dog be as popular as Tony Alva of Dogtown fame? Maybe not in the professional skateboarding world but in the online dog skateboarding world, this dog’s latest skateboarding video has already garnered more than 11 million views since it was uploaded to Facebook back in April. Not bad for a young skater whose first video last year got more than 25 million views in just four days.
The skateboarding mutt (he is a mix of Rhodesian Ridgeback, American Staffordshire Terrier and other breeds) calls Solana Beach, California, his stomping grounds and has been skating at least since 2015. One of his first recorded skateboard sessions was at Seaside State Beach in Solana Beach, where he practiced his tricks in a largely empty parking lot.
In addition to beaches, Bamboo has skated atop parking garages, sidewalks and boardwalks around San Diego. Sometimes he can be seen skating with Cash and Phoenix, two other skateboarding dogs from around the neighborhood. But most of the time you can see him skating solo, eating food, playing soccer or hanging with other dogs.
When Bamboo isn’t winning awards (2014 Paws in the Park – Best Trick Dog, 2015 Yappy Hour at La Colonia – Best Trick Dog) Bamboo helps his human owner train for events such as the 2015 Solana Beach Unofficial 4th of July 5K and the 2015 SoCal Spartan Race.
Bamboo is an active dog. And boy he loves to skate.
