Signs indicating gerbil illness:

  • Not eating, drinking, or playing
  • Diarrhea or wetness around bottom
  • Fur loss around nose and eyes
  • Skin problems, especially around belly
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Discharge from nose
  • Ungroomed appearance
  • Lameness

  • Good appetite
  • Alert
  • Playful
  • Likes being held
  • Aware of environment
