Save the Bird Seed From Squirrels

Are squirrels eating all your bird seed? Keep squirrels out of bird feeders with these feeder tips.

No discussion of bird feeders is complete without mentioning squirrels. Many bird enthusiasts take great pains to keep squirrels out of bird feeders, adding baffles and domes to the feeders and choosing mechanical bird feeders that spin when a squirrel tries to feed on the bird seed.

Other backyard birders take a “If you can? beat ?m, join ?m?attitude toward the rodents, installing squirrel feeders to keep the furry bandits out of the bird seed.

Squirrel feeders can be as simple as a spiral wire that holds a dried corncob, but many feeders are designed to make the squirrel work for its food. Why not?

These agile, acrobatic creatures will do anything for a peanut, and it? amusing to watch them use their brains to solve a problem. Some squirrel feeders require the critter to lift a lid on a box, some look more like moving jungle gyms, and others employ bungee cords. If you?e going to feed the squirrels, you might as well enjoy the show!
