Ashlee Simpson married musician Pete Wentz on Saturday at a private ceremony at her parents’ home near Los Angeles. The ring bearer? Wentz’s English Bulldog, Hemingway.
Simpson’s dad performed the non-denominational ceremony, and sister Jessica served as maid of honor.
Ashlee told People on Friday that she “really got into” planning the wedding. “Now that I’m doing it, I definitely have that big dream. It kind of went more fairytale than I thought.”
Simpson wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier and jewelry by William Noble. Fairytale touches included an “Alice in Wonderland”-themed reception that featured a wedding cake with a top hat, tea pot, stop watch, and a pot of flowers on top.
Tables were decorated with centerpieces of black roses, and guests, including Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, and actor Donald Faison with girlfriend CaCee Cobb, were all asked to wear dark colors. Each guest received a red box containing a cookie that, continuing the “Alice in Wonderland” theme, read, “Eat me.”
Simpson and Wentz announced their engagement last month. Sources close to the couple told People that Simpson is pregnant with the couple’s first child.
