Reward Offered in Dog Shootings

Three adult Belgian Malinois found dead in Pennsylvania in dog shootings.

Three adult Belgian Malinois found dead in Pennsylvania in dog shootings.

State police are investigating, and a reward of more than $3,500 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case of three dogs shot and dumped near Saylorsburg, Penn.

The dogs, who had been shot point blank, were found Dec. 6.

On Dec. 8, Monroe County District Attorney Dave Christine announced he has ordered state police to have a necropsy – an animal autopsy – performed on the animals in hopes that bullet fragments can be found and matched to the shooter.

The money pledged for the reward came from the Monroe Animal League and individual animal lovers and dog owners.

If no arrest is made, the money will be donated to a local animal rescue group, according to George Kitchen, the man who found the dogs and put up the initial $1,000 in reward money.

None of the dogs had ID microchips embedded under their skin, or identifying tags, Kitchen said.

Anyone with information about the crime can contact the Lehighton, Penn., State Police office at (610) 377-4270.
