Brace yourselves, you’re about to majorly squee after reading this story (and watching the accompanying video).
When Marina, a newborn tabby kitten, was found abandoned on the streets, she was not in great shape. Weak, sick, and in desperate need of a lot of TLC, the kitten looked primed to die – until a kind Samaritan scooped her up and swept her off to Santiago, Chile’s, Santuario Igualdad Interespecie animal sanctuary.
Over a 24-hour period, rescue workers doted on the kitten, attempting to strengthen her frail body. The undivided attention worked; by day two at the sanctuary, Marina was toddling around and playing with her caretakers, so they decided to introduce the wee kitten to someone new: Laura the piglet.
Rescued from a factory farm, Laura, who has a fondness for fancy party frocks, was known for her loving disposition, which she quickly showed to Marina. The two fell in love instantly, and they have been inseparable ever since.
“Two babies giving us a lesson of love heart emoticon,” the Santuario Igualdad Interespecie posted on Facebook. “The Piggy Laura was saved from ending up in the dish of someone. When I was a few days of life, the activists were rescued from a breeding pigs and they brought her to the sanctuary so that he could have a decent life. Since his arrival, Laura has been treated with all the love and the care he deserves a baby, and has formed a deep friendship with the kitty Marina, showing with his example, that when it comes to relations of friendship and respect, no matter the Species to which it belongs.”
Are you as smitten with Marina and Laura as we are?
