Losing someone is never easy, be it a relative, friend or in this case, a coworker.

Moonie the Chihuahua, best known as Reese Witherspoon’s canine companion Bruiser Woods in the “Legally Blonde” movies, passed away yesterday. Moonie was 18 years old when he died. He was described by his trainer, Sue Chip, on Instagram as “one of the greatest little dogs.”

Moonie was first introduced to the world as Bruiser Woods back in 2001, when Elle Woods, played by Witherspoon, took him with her to Harvard.

The actress posted a photo of her with her co-star on Instagram today, breaking the sad news to her fans.

“With a sad heart, I have to let all the #LegallyBlonde fans know that Bruiser Woods (also known as Moonie) passed away yesterday,” Witherspoon wrote. “He was a sweet little Chihuahua who was very loved. I will never forget all the days we spent together… I’m sure his tail is wagging in the sky. Sending love to his trainer, the wonderful @tailsticks #RIPBruiser”

Our thoughts go out to Witherspoon, Chip and “Legally Blonde” fans as they mourn the loss of Bruiser Woods.
