Recall Alert: Blue Kitty Yums Chicken Recipe Cat Treats

Blue Buffalo has issued a voluntary recall of cat treats because propylene glycol was present in them.

Blue Kitty Yums Chicken Recipe Cat Treats have been voluntarily recalled. Blue Buffalo Company, Ltd. has issued the recall because of the possibility that the treats may contain low levels of propylene glycol. The FDA does not permit the use of propylene glycol in cat food.

The recall was issued after an individual consumer issued a complaint, prompting the FDA to test the product. No other incidents have been reported. As an extreme cautionary measure, Blue Buffalo Company has issued the recall to include all products manufactured in the same lot as the affected bag. To find out if you have one of the recalled products, check the bag for the following information:

Note: The recalled product was packaged in 2-ounce, stand up pouches and was distributed throughout the United States and Canada, both in pet specialty stores and online. No other Blue Buffalo products were affected by this recall.

If you have the recalled product, monitor your cat for the following symptoms: depression, excessive urination, loss of coordination, muscle twitching and thirst. If your cat has consumed the recalled product and shows signs of any of these symptoms, contact your veterinarian.
