Insect growth regulators are finding their way into a wide range of on-animal and premises-treatment products available through veterinary channels. IGRs function as birth control for fleas, inhibiting development of the flea by mimicking flea hormones.

Many pharmaceuticals companies have released or plan to release IGR flea-control products, including indoor sprays, foggers, emulsifiable concentrates that can be diluted for either indoor or outdoor use, and on-animal products.
