Talk about a happy release!

A male Pit Bull named Benny was brought to the Carson Animal Care Center in Gardena, California, on November 23. As CBS Los Angeles reports, he was a favorite among visitors; however, it wasn’t until December 10 that he would meet his new family.

Like with many happy moments, the release was caught on tape — and in the true spirit of social media sharing, a group that promotes saving animals at the Carson shelter posted it on its Facebook page. The 8-month-old’s excitement at leaving the facility has gone viral.

Although Benny seems a little hesitant at the start of video — as if to say, “Don’t toy with me… is this for real?” — he soon realizes his stay at the care center is over. And his excitement is overwhelming.

As Benny is let out of his cage, he is seen rapidly wagging his tail, jumping for joy and stopping by the cages of other dogs as he makes his way back out into the “outside” world and to his new home.

Reportedly the adorable video has been viewed more than 1.7 million times, bringing smiles to viewers during this year’s holiday season.

This special little guy captured the hearts of everyone who stopped by his kennel. He hit the jackpot when this beautiful family chose to take him home.
