Puppy Bowl VIII

The biggest (and possibly only) puppy football event is back and better than ever!

Puppy Bowl

The annual event, put on with the help of Petfinder, brings together a group of competitive canines from animal shelters and rescue groups across the nation. The feisty but adorable pups will go paw to paw for the coveted title of BISSEL MVP (Most Valuable Puppy.)

This year’s starting lineup is comprised of puppies from rescues and shelters including spcaLA, All Star Pet Rescue, Go Boxer Rescue, Pet Matchmaker Rescue, Furever Dachshund Rescue, and Huts for Mutts Dog Rescue.

This year’s Puppy Bowl is packed with entertainment including a piggy pep squad that will cheer for the pups from the sidelines. Animal advocate Jill Rappaport will provide game analysis and commentary, plus “Meep the Bird” will be tweeting during the game so you won’t miss a minute of Puppy Bowl action!

These daring dogs will also meet a brand new referee, Dan Schachner who will make his Puppy Bowl Debut.

“When Animal Planet first called and told me that I would be working with 58 puppies, 20 cats, five pigs and one bird, I thought this would be the easiest gig of my career,” says Schachner. “But after calling my first ‘terrier touchdown,’ I can see why this is the toughest competition in sports today.”

Fans will also love the Kitty Half-Time show.  The fearless felines will perform gymnastics, and during the game viewers can enjoy their favorite Puppy Bowl favorites like the kiss cam, puppy cam, water bowl cam, and a special aerial view of the field provided by the Ice Breakers Mints blimp flown by hamster pilots.

Tune in to Animal Planet between 3 – 5 p.m EST to find out who is top dog in Puppy Bowl VIII.
