Dogs have the incredible ability to forgive and adapt, no matter how horrific the circumstances. An abused and abandoned Pit Bull found Monday on the side of the road in Chester City, Pennsylvania, is proof of this.
Russ Harper, a humane police officer with Justice Rescue, came across the the dog, who clearly had been dumped and left for dead, FOX 29 News-WTXF reports.
“He was lying over there in the weeds where someone found him and he was just cold and lifeless,” Harper told the local news station. “I really thought when I picked him up he was dead.”
Harper named the dog Remi and took him to the local veterinary hospital right away. Remi was covered in severe bites, many of which were already infected. Harper believes Remi, who is about 1 1/2 years old, was used for dog fighting before he was left to die.
Even though Remi has a long way to go before he is fully recovered, while at the animal hospital, he showed Harper that he is more than ready for love after the horrific life he has lead thus far.
In a video uploaded to Facebook by Dawn Timmeney of FOX 29, Remi can not get close enough to Harper, and really just wants to snuggle.
Get well soon, Remi! We’re all pulling for you.
