Animal Control Officers from Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are looking for one home– for two special dogs. Meet Jonie and Chachi.

Last week, Pit Bull, Jonie, was spotted carrying her tiny, injured Chihuahua friend, Chachi, around the streets of Savannah, Georgia. According to the animal control officers who rescued the pair off the streets, Jonie carried Chachi around, stopping from time to time to lick the Chihuahua’s badly infected eye.

The pair was taken in by animal control officers at the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department who have posted photos and updates on the departments Facebook page.

Shelter veterinarians removed Chachi’s infected eye which has temporarily separated the dynamic duo while Chachi is in recovery.

Luckily the pair has gotten to spend time with one another and on Tuesday, Jonie was given the opportunity to visit her friend. Te shelter staff was treated to an emotional reunion, complete with licking, whining, and of course lots of cuddling.

It’s unclear how the two ended up in this situation, police expected Joanie and Chachi’s owner to come forward, but no one has claimed the pair.
The dogs have been cleared for adoption and the hope is that they will find a home together.

“It’s not every day we get to see such devotion between two special dogs like this. They are both such sweet animals. But the relationship they share just sets them apart,” says Animal Control Officer Christina Sutherin.
