They don’t wear makeup or lavish gowns, but when it comes to glamorous looks, the Standard Poodle is special.
Elegant and graceful, statuesque and imposing. Impeccable grooming — and those piercing eyes.
For DOG FANCY’s February breed profile, and a Dog College video, we recruited Lulu and Roux for a photoshoot, and thought you would enjoy getting an inside look at the action.
Beneath their amazing beauty and glamorous appearances, Standard Poodles are athletic and talented everyday working dogs.
Our models on this day, Lulu and Roux, are not only beautiful but also amazingly tolerant and patient, enduring hot lights and those annoying big flashes.
To get the best angle we had to place our models atop an elevated platform, and the surface was very slippery. Remember, these dogs are agile but they are big. The majestic male Roux, looking like a lion in his fabulous coat, was especially cautious on the slick surface.
It was a lot to ask, but our two supermodels came through like champions. Check out our video, below, and see for yourself. Our thanks to Jorja Harmon for bringing in Lulu, and to Roux’s owner, Penelope Milne. And watch for our February DOG FANCY issue featuring the final photo.
