This Feb. 11-13, give a homeless dog a second chance to find a loving home during the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend.
The three-day event, planned for all 1,172 PetSmart stores in the U.S. and Canada, includes more than 2,000 animal-welfare organizations with a single goal: finding homes for more than 17,000 dogs, cats and small animals.
“Every year, about eight million dogs and cats enter animal shelters in the U.S., and about half must be euthanized,” says Susana Della Maddelana, vice president and executive director of PetSmart Charities, Inc. “PetSmart Charities is a strong advocate for pet adoptions, and we see how many pets’ lives can be saved during these events.”
Since 1994, more than 4.4 million pets have found homes through the PetSmart Charities’ adoption centers. Participating shelters receive $35 for every pet they find a home for during the event.
To participate, visit the PetSmart Charities’ adoption center inside any PetSmart store in the U.S. or Canada from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 12; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13. Participating animal-welfare groups manage adoptions and determine their own pet adoption fees and adoption guidelines.
