North Shore Animal League America will present this year’s DogCatemy Gala Nov. 4 at 6 pm. Sandra Bernhard will host and multi-platinum recording artist Deborah Cox will perform at Cipriani’s Wall Street in New York City on Thursday. NSALA, the world’s largest no-kill animal shelter, is hosting the event for the fifth year.
The evening was created to celebrate the bond between dogs and cats and people. The NSALA also aims to thank organizations and individuals dedicated to saving the lives of shelter cats and dogs and who find them loving, permanent homes.
According to NSALA, during the past five years the DogCatemy Celebrity Gala has become a tradition for celebrities and their pets. Each year, artists and newsmakers create videos starring their beloved animals for this Hollywood-style award show. The categories for this year’s awards include: Best Pawformance, Best In Show, Best Tail Waggin Flick, and Best Dogumentary. Further information and tickets for the event, which is open to the public, can be found on the Animal League’s website.
This year’s participants include actress Kathryn Erbe, Broadway stars Orfeh and Andy Karl, country music icon Wynonna Judd, multi-platinum recording artist Taylor Dane, the NY Mets, actor Josh Flitter, Bravo Housewives Countess LuAnn De Lesseps and Caroline Manzo, Stephen Baldwin and designers Marc Bauwer and Sylvia Heisel, among many others.
NSALA also will present pet psychic Sonya Fitzpatrick, who will do exclusive readings for attending guests in the Kitty-Cat Lounge during the first hour of the event. Gala-going cats can also expect some pampering in the Animal League Spa. The spa will feature and Reiki for your cat.
This year’s gala is made possible through contributions from sponsors such as Action Mailers, American List Council, Butler Schein, MBS, Mel Karmazin Foundation, Merial, Mikam, Paradysz Matera, PETCO, Prince Associates and RR Donnelley.
