Garfield fans, rejoice!
Alcon Entertainment has just acquired the rights to “Garfield” from creator Jim Davis, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The production company will produce an animated adaptation of the classic comic strip.
As many fans of the lasagna-loving fat cat will recall, there have been two big screen CGI/live action film releases from the “Garfield” franchise, in 2004’s “Garfield: The Movie,” and 2006’s “Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties.”
Bill Murray voiced the role of Garfield in both movies, but there’s no word yet on whether he’ll reprise his role.
Hopefully, the only changes will involve casting announcements, and Garfield’s signature chronic laziness and love of carbs will remain untouched.
