Nanday Conures Fly By

While having lunch in Los Angeles yesterday, I jumped from the table mid meal. There was no mistaking those sonic screeches ?lt;/span> a flock of nandays flying by. I had heard about the feral flock of nanday conures that fly about the Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica area, and sure enough, there they were. I ran outside just in time to see a flock of about eight calling to each other. (It could have easily been 10 … can somehow tell me how birders can throw out precise flock numbers before the birds even come into full view!) I couldn’t help but get chills, after all, I share my home with a nanday of my own. Of course, no one else seemed to share my enthusiasm, but to me, it was a parrot symphony: loud and proud.
