Since 1998, MTV’s docu-series True Life has given young people a voice by allowing them to tell their stories in their own words. Episodes focus on all sorts of topics, with recent ones titled “I’m Occupying Wall Street,” “I’m Being Cut Off By My Parents,” and “I Have Narcolepsy.” The Emmy-award-winning series highlights unusual circumstances of unique individuals.
For the first time in its more than 200 episodes, True Life is developing an installment that will focus on ownership of an exotic pet (no cats or dogs, please). More specifically, True Life wants to hear about the challenges of owning an exotic pet.
The casting call asks for anyone who appears to be between the ages of 15 and 28 to email firstname.lastname@example.org with their name, phone number, location, a photo and a brief explanation of how the exotic pet is controlling their life. Does the pet have specific needs? Is owning it tougher than anticipated? What do friends and family think of the pet?
The episode is in development, and submissions are being accepted for the next three or four months according to a series story producer. For more information about the show, visit its website.
