When Marilyn M.’s son was 2½ years old, the unthinkable happened. The precocious toddler, using a chair to boost himself up, opened the front door and walked outside. Luckily, Marilyn’s Shetland Sheepdog, Heather, went after the smallest member of her flock. “I got a call from a neighbor telling me that Heather was herding him away from the street,” Marilyn says.
