Even if you’re not a KISS fan, don’t know a single word to “Rock and Roll All Nite” and wouldn’t know Ace Frehley from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, you probably know the band’s frontman Gene Simmons and his impressively long tongue. But Simmons is getting a run for his money from an unlikely source: a 5-year-old Scottish Fold from Russia.
The cat, named Melissa, seems to always have her tongue sticking out, which makes her look like a much, much (much) cuter, cuddlier version of Simmons. And while Melissa’s owner, Alina Esther, thinks her photogenic kitty looks a little like that famous picture of Albert Einstein with his tongue out, the cute kitty totally reminds us of the rock star. After all, despite his many contributions to science and physics, Einstein never released a record called “Lick It Up.”
It’s unclear exactly why Melissa’s sticks her tongue out so much, but according to The Daily Mirror, it might have something to do with osteochondrodysplasia, a degenerative disorder of the development of bone and cartilage that affects Scottish Folds. Missing teeth is also a common cause, although Esther reportedly has said all of Melissa’s teeth are intact. Maybe she just likes sticking her tongue out? Whatever the case may be, that long tongue has earned her a large following on social media.
Here are a few of our favorite pics of Melissa, all shared on her own Instagram account.
