We are sure a lot of you have photos of yourselves growing up with your dogs or cats over the years, but how many of you have photos of yourselves growing up with a Burmese Python?
A man in the Philippines does, and he shared his photos with The Dodo, showing him in various stages of his life with his pet snake, Lucky, on his shoulders.
The photos are telling in that they first show Gian Carlo as a boy with what was then a fairly small python. A second photo shows Carlo a few years later with the growing python, and a third photo shows a confident Carlo as a young man with a very large Lucky around his shoulders.
Carlo had the fortunate experience of growing up with one of the largest species of snake in the world, a snake that reptile keepers call the “gentle giants” of the large constrictors, for their seemingly curious and gentle nature. Lucky apparently is so calm that he even sleeps in Carlo’s bed, according to The Dodo.
Snakes often get a bad rap. For whatever reason, they are some of the most feared and misunderstood creatures. But the photos of Carlo and Lucky go to show that not all large constricting snakes are dangerous or scary.
