No matter how close you are with your pets, sometimes taking them with you on certain adventures just doesn’t work.
Fortunately for David Bahnson (and his impressive woodworking skills), going on kayaking adventures with his dogs is no longer a problem, The Dodo reports. That’s because the Vermont-resident has built a custom triple-seater kayak with enough space for himself and his two dogs.
The idea to create the custom kayak came after he saw how perfectly his first dog, Susie, fit in the baggage compartment of his kayak. To make things more comfortable for Susie, he added a ring, or coaming, around the opening to help her stay dry.
Then, when Bahnson and his wife adopted their second dog, Ginger, he added another compartment in the back. It’s not big enough to fit a human, but it’s just right for little Ginger.
“They are trained to get in the kayak themselves on command,” Bahnson told The Dodo. “They sit down, and off we go. When we come ashore, they’ll stay seated until I tell them it’s OK to get out. They never hopped out into the water, actually.”
Those are some impressive pups! And perfectly matched with their handy and skilled owner, Bahnson.
