Lindsey Dicken, a National Certified Master Groomer from Altamonte Springs, Fla., received the honor of Andis Groomer of the Year during the Purina Pro Plan’s 59th Annual Showdogs of the Year Awards dinner held February 8, 2014, at Gotham Hall in New York City. The event is held two days before the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club dog show.
“Being a professional dog groomer means you are part of a small, elite group of individuals who have answered a calling,” said Karen Formico, vice president of marketing for Andis. “Andis is thrilled to be able to support the Groomer of the Year competition to recognize these very talented people.”
After nine years of professional grooming, and competing for seven, Lindsey has qualified for Groom Team USA’s Top 10 Stylists every year she was eligible. She has been named the No. 1 ranked groomer in the nation five times. In 2009 and 2013, she traveled to Germany and Spain respectively and helped Groom Team USA bring home the Gold. Past accolades include multiple Best All Around Groomer awards; Best Scissored Poodle award; World Champion Poodle Groomer; Intergroom’s American Groomer of the Year; multiple Lynn Carver Memorial Award for Best All Around Pet Stylist; Cardinal Crystal American Groomer of the Year; twice Barkleigh Award for Competitive Groomer and several Best in Show with a Bichon Frisé. Lindsey is best known for her work with Bichons and Poodles, but she has also exceled in competitions with Kerry Blue Terriers, Soft Coated Wheaton Terriers, English Cocker Spaniels and mixed breeds.
As Groomer of the Year, Lindsey and a companion received an all-expenses paid trip to New York City to accept the award. “I was so excited to learn I won this award,” said Lindsey. “I am very fortunate to I love what I do and being recognized by Andis as Groomer of the Year is truly an honor.”
