Sure you could go to a cat café. Or a rabbit café. Or an owl café. But if you’re like us, this latest café is the one you want to visit.
The café is called Harry, a play on the Japanese word for needle, “hari.” The rate to visit Harry is roughly $9 an hour on weekdays and $12 an hour on weekends.
Mizuki Murata works at the hedgehog happy place and told Reuters the shop’s popularity began right after opening in February, with customers often lining up to get in.
“We wanted to show people the charm of hedgehogs, which give the impression of being hard to handle,” Murata said to a reporter. “We wanted to get rid of that image by letting people touch them.”
“The cutest thing about hedgehogs is getting them to finally open up and show you their face,” Murata continued.
A sandwich board outside the shop shows the different types of hedgehogs ready to hang out and, hopefully, open up.
