Kylie Jenner had planned to attend the American Music Awards last night but her dog mom duties came first.

The reality TV star missed the award show, held Nov. 20 in Los Angeles, California, because her Italian Greyhound, Bambi, went into labor.

“For those asking, I was planning on going to AMA this year but Bambi went into labor, so I’m here taking care of puppies,” she tweeted last night.

Bambi had two puppies total, and Jenner’s other dog, Norman, is the father. She explained on Twitter that she knew Bambi was pregnant but that the pregnancy was unplanned.

“Yes I knew but I just wasn’t planning on breeding my dogs,” she tweeted. “It only takes one time people lol.”

Jenner immediately came under fire by those who called her irresponsible for not having her dogs fixed and for contributing to the homeless pet problem. But she did say she plans on keeping both of the puppies.

As for the puppies’ names? We’ll have to wait as Jenner wants the puppies’ personalities to reveal themselves first before she picks out names.

Sounds like she had a pretty good reason for missing the AMAs. We would rather stay home with puppies than go to an award show any day.
