There’s a summer competition this year with striking athletic prowess, fierce competition and oh-so-much fluff.

The Kitten Summer Games were announced this week on the Hallmark Channel’s website. Videos on the site and the channel’s Facebook page show cathletes running and… well, mostly just running, and co-host Beth Stern introducing the exciting action, which will air August 5.

The adoptable kittens have a full roster of events in which to compete: kitten gymnastics, balance beam, uneven bars, rings, floor exercises, de-CAT-hlon, track and field, pole vault, high jump, volleyball, tennis, wrestling and more. According to the channel’s site, kittens nationwide have been training and jockeying for a spot at the games. Only the best will bring home a gold, silver or bronze medal.

In addition to Stern, announcer Mary Carillo will host the games. Other guests include NFL football pro Rob Gronkowski, Olympic medalist and World Cup champion Brandi Chastain and professional snowboarder and Olympic medalist Lindsey Jacobellis.

North Shore Animal League and Last Hope Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation will help to find all kittens homes once the games are done. The groups have previously supplied Hallmark Channel with players for the Kitten Bowl, another adorable cat-on-cat competition.

Really, who wouldn’t want to take home a champion?
