Update: We received many questions about why Tally is in her third home. We were able to find more information and waned to share. Tally was a rescue, but her new family found themselves unable to provide her the attention and exercise she needed and gave her to a family friend a few years ago. According to the individual who shared these photos via reddit, Tally is being treated excellently and is very happy in her now forever home.
Tally, AKA Tao Tao, meaning “mischievous” in Chinese is a Husky dog that has gained quite the Internet following over the past 48 hours. Why? Because she is everything that embodies Internet crazes. She is an adorable, photogenic dog who acts just like a cat. It is hard to say exactly why, but I can only assume it has a lot to do with the fact that she was raised by cats.
Her former owner posted a photo album of her on Reddit claiming his family adopted Tally when she was 2 years old. The photo that made her instantly famous is the one seen below, in which she has stuffed herself into a box.
Her puppy years were spent being raised side by side with a group of kittens, and in that time she picked up their habits and nuances and kept them as her own. Huskies are known to be a loud, vocal breed, but Tally barely ever made a noise. The singular time her owner ever heard her bark was at his grandfather wearing a hockey mask.
In public, she would rarely show interest in other dogs. Her favorite pastime is even rather cat-like: “She likes to lie there, observing people and silently judging them all day.”
Tally is now living with a third family, where she seems to be exhibiting the exact same feline traits she has been known for her whole life. She has been sitting perching on the largest windowsills she can find.
How did the owner feel when he found out his former pet had gone viral? He posted “Sup. Was sleeping. Woke up to Internet fame. Wow.”
Does your dog sometimes think he or she is a different kind of animal? Is this the best example of nature versus nurture out there? Let us know in the comments below.
