Humane Society Sets Deadline for Pet Reunion Assistance

Familes looking for pets displaced by Hurricane Katrina have until Nov. 23 to ask for help.

Families looking to reunite with pets displaced by Hurricane Katrina have until Nov. 23 to request assistance through the Humane Society of the United States. The HSUS said it will work until Dec. 16 on any cases received by that date. To request assistance, families can call the HSUS reunion line at (800) HUMANE-1.

To date, the organization has facilitated more than 600 reunions. It helped with the rescue of more than 7,400 companion animals during the rescue phase of the relief efforts.
